Hi, my name is Shane McKinnon.
I’m a creative producer. To me, that means being an empathetic collaborator with creatives and developers, a gentle enforcer of process and documentation, and an accountable partner to clients and stakeholders.
I’m a lover of stories no matter their form. One of my earliest memories is playing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 when I was four years old, kicking off a lifelong obsession with video games and stories. From drawing comic books when I was ten about a superhero bird-man called “Chickenhead” to editing together YouTube videos with Windows Movie Maker in middle school, stories and digital media were a part of my daily activities. Being active in my college student media groups as a radio DJ and video editor cemented my path to choosing a career in creative and digital projects of all shapes, forms and sizes.
I’m a former video producer, intimately familiar with the creative process and its hurdles. Deadlines? I’ve had them, made them, and yes, even missed the rare few. Creative briefs? I’ve seen good ones, bad ones, ones that make you go “Hmm.” Ever been asked to film and edit a video in a day’s turnaround, complete with animation? Expectations, I’ve managed them. Being actively engaged in the process and directly responsible for video production continues to be a foundational experience that I feel I owe a lot of my success as a project manager to.
I’m an emerging digital professional. Working in agile teams the past few years on website builds & web services has given me a deep appreciation for the magic behind the curtain that fuels our world.
I’m looking forward to the future, excited to work on story-driven projects of grander complexity and to continue supporting the people who make our favorite things. Wherever I go next, I plan on having fun with it!
